Braid Hairstyles for Kids

Braid Hairstyles for Kids

It’s no secret that braids are very popular in the world of hair and fashion and many adults love getting their hair braided. But this hairstyle is not unique to grown-ups alone. Many children love having their hair braided as well.

The standard technique has been a single or double braid style for kids, but that can get a little boring, so you might want to switch it up. In this article, we are going to take a look at some braid hairstyles you can try out on your kids. Each style includes instructions of what you will need to style your child’s hair, as well as brief directions on how to do it.

Twisted Mohawk
All you need for this style is a simple comb and hairspray. Make sure to pull all of your kid’s hair back and keep it away from her face to avoid distraction from curls as she goes about her day. Next, you mold cornrows into the hairstyle so that part of her hair is unbraided and some of it is not.

Ponytail with twisted braids
Ponytails are the staple for many moms who are looking for a simple, delicate hairstyle that won’t take too long to complete. All you need for this style is a few hair elastics and a brush.

Braid about 3 inches of the hair up to the tip, before tying it with an elastic to secure it. Tie the rest of her hair into a ponytail then twist the braid around it about four times before tying together for a nice, simple look.

Half-up crown braids
Many people opt to tie up their daughters’ hair for sheer convenience. But there can be a lot more to kids’ hair than just tying it up, you can experiment with some of these half-up crown braids. All you need is good spray, bobby pins, and a brush.

Braid your child’s hair into 3 French braids and continue this around her head. When you have reached close to her forehead, secure the braid with some pins. Once completed, you can loosen it up a bit to give the entire look a little bit more volume before spraying it.

Crown braids
This kind of hairstyle is the perfect way to make your little girl feel like a princess, and it is even better than getting a makeshift crown. All you need is a brush, some elastics, and good hair spray.

Create a parting down the middle of her head before parting it again in the middle to separate the front and back. Tie the front hair into two ponytails and braid them before securing with elastics. Use the braids to tie the hair at the back into a ponytail before securing with pins to get the desired look.

There are plenty of other styles to try out, and braiding your child’s hair need not be a boring or mundane task. Take care to use good quality hairspray and make sure not to tie your kid’s hair too tightly.
